PM Imran Khan has categorically reiterated that Pakistan will not compromise its relations with China under any external pressure from the west.
Speaking to Chinese media in Islamabad on the occasion of centenary celebrations of Communist Party of China (CPC) in Islamabad, PM Imran Khan reaffirmed that Pakistan will not downgrade its relations with China regardless of whatever pressure comes from the United States or other Western powers.
The United States is wary of China and has formed a regional alliance. It is unfair of the US and Western powers to expect countries like Pakistan to take sides, said PM Imran Khan.
However, PM Imran Khan noted that the relationship between Pakistan and China is very deep, it’s not just the governments, but it’s a people-to-people relationship.
No matter what pressure is put on us, is not going to change, he added.
The premier also praised CPC and President XI Jinping for their success in achieving poverty alleviation in China by uplifting 700 million people out of poverty.
Felicitating CPC on its centenary PM Imran Khan termed CPC as a successful alternate to western democracy and highlighted that the CPC has introduced an alternative model and they have beaten all Western democracies in the way they have highlighted merit in society.
Addressing the issue of Uighurs Muslims in China’s Xinjiang province, PM Imran Khan stated that Pakistan accepts the Chinese version on the matter.
Expressing his views on the western media’s coverage of Uighurs issue, the prime minister noted that it is hypocritical that there is no mention of worst human rights violations being carried out in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in the western media.
The premier reiterated commitment to further enhance and deepen the bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a flagship project, he concluded.
