Intermittent rain wind-thunderstorm is reported in the upper areas of Sindh province, here on Saturday.
According to the Met office, dust-thunderstorm with rain was already expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Jaccobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas, while very hot and dry weather in other parts of the province.
Meanwhile, the weather will remain unchanged in the same areas on Sunday and dust-thunderstorm with rain is expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas.
The Sindh Agriculture department has declared an emergency and cancelled vacations due to the forecast of heavy rainfall in the province, a statement said on Friday.
The average rainfall in Sindh is 8–9 in (20–23 cm) per year. The region’s scarcity of rainfall is compensated by the inundation of the Indus twice a year, caused by the spring and summer melting of Himalayan snow and by rainfall in the monsoon season.
A Westerly wave is affecting most parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts till Tuesday.
Intermittent rain wind-thunderstorm is expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Northeast Balochistan, Sindh and Islamabad. Heavy falls and hailstorm is also expected at few places during the period.
