The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has condemned the ‘heinous and cowardly’ 29th June terrorist attack on Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
According to the statement issued by the UNSC, the 15-member body condemns the terrorist attack on PSX building in Karachi on Monday which was successfully thwarted by security forces.
“The members of the Security Council underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice,” read the statement issued by UNSC.
The statement also stressed upon the joint effort and mutual cooperation among states to counter the threat of terrorism in light of in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and other obligations under international law, including international human rights law, international refugee law and international humanitarian law.

Furthermore, the international body also offered its support and condolences to the families of the victims killed in the terrorist attack.
“The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of Pakistan,” said the statement.
In addition to it, the UNSC also highlighted the significance of adopting a ‘no tolerance’ policy and approach for all kinds of extremist and acts and ideologies stating that, ‘terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security’.
