United Nations (UN) approved a Pakistan sponsored resolution promoting religious tolerance and calling for protection of religious sites.
The resolution calls for strengthened international efforts to foster a global dialogue on the promotion of a culture of tolerance and peace at all levels, based on respect for human rights and for the diversity of religions and beliefs.
It also highlights increasing incidents of racial and religious intolerance, discrimination and related violence, as well as of negative racial and religious stereotyping.
General Assembly has adopted by consensus a resolution ā sponsored by Pakistan other OIC countries ā on the protection of religious sites. Pakistan will continue to play a leading role in denouncing violent attacks on religious sites, said Munir Akram ā Pakistanās permanent representative at UN.
In a video message, Munir Akram reiterated Pakistanās continuing commitment towards promoting peace and religious tolerance. He also condemned attacks on religious sites.
