Majeed’s roof garden comprises of a kinnow plant along with a variety of flowers.
Expressing his views, Abdul Majeed apprised that he inherited his love for gardening, home-grown vegetables from his father.
My father hailed from Amritsar, India and migrated to Pakistan after independence. Upon his arrival in Pakistan he established a small garden by the house with various vegetables and flowers, said Majeed.
Abdul Majeed’s roof garden also includes various vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, raddish, turnip, green chilies, onions, coriander, green peppers and mint.
Meanwhile, during summer season he cultivated tomatoes, cucumbers, lemons and bitter gourd.
The roof garden requires extensive care and maintenance as plants need significant care. Abdul Majeed waters and performs essential chores regarding his roof garden on a daily basis before going to work.
Majeed noted that his home-grown vegetables are chemical free and duly address his family’s daily requirements as one or the other is ready for harvest and can be cooked every other day.
He advised citizens to engage in growing their own vegetables rather than buying them from the market as a packet of different vegetable seeds is available for as low as Rs50.
