Islamabad: Pakistan’s Torkham and Chaman borders with Afghanistan will be partially opened to allow the exit of Afghan nationals stranded in Pakistan.
The border crossing will remain open till April 9 during which only one-way pedestrian movement will be allowed while cross-border transportation will remain suspended.
The border crossings were closed by Pakistani authorities in order to control the spread of the novel virus last month.
The closure of borders for trade activities has entered 36th day.
Earlier on April 4, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson issued a statement expressing that the decision to open Chaman and Torkham border crossings has been made on request of the Afghan government.
Additionally, on March 20, Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced the opening of Chaman-Spin Boldak border to allow trucks – carrying essential goods, enter Afghanistan.
