Coronavirus lockdowns will indeed make the global community realize of the sufferings of Kashmiris and result in their dream of freedom
In the background of deadly Coronavirus which has claimed more than 65,000 lives and effected more than a million people with 200 plus countries in its radar list, the whole world and its major cities have gone into the lockdown mode. All businesses are shut and people are confined to their homes. Similarly, the biggest democracy of the world, India has also entered in a state of lockdown with its around 1.3 billion of its people making it the largest population in lockdown.
Let’s not go far, this is the same country which has enforced a forced lockdown which is illegal and contrary to human rights in its nature, in Jammu and Kashmir. The valley is in a constant state of lockdown for around 250 days by the Indian authorities to legitimize its illegal occupation through barbarianism and force. India has crushed the right of self-determination of Kashmiris and cut all the communication lines too.
As we speak, the menace of Coronavirus is haunting the globe, India and its fascist government led by Naradendra Modi faces the taste of his own medicine where he has to enforce a lockdown on his own people and also apologize to them for doing so. It won’t be unfitting to call it a Karma, the nature has indeed its own rules, nobody would’ve any idea that the same treatment Kashmiris are facing in form of a lockdown would become the story of every Indian be it a local of Aurangabad or an urbanized businessman of Mumbai.
The lockdowns and other Indian military strategies in Jammu and Kashmir to suppress Kashmiris have been quite counterproductive. They have only given a substantial impetus to the ongoing resistance movement in the valley. It has become more of a mass movement than anything else by the participation of a considerable segment of the Kashmiri populace. It has also resulted in blurring the line between combatants and non-combatants in the valley. They now can’t be downed by any Indian lockdown or crackdown. Let us all wait for this crisis to get over; I am hopeful that the Kashmiris will be free from this lockdown as the whole world could bear witness to the experience of what Kashmiris are facing since 245 days.
Pakistan Zindabad!
