Sindh government, on Saturday, has allowed textile mills and restaurants to resume their operations amid COVID-19 lockdown.
According to the notification issued by Sindh home department, 14 textile mills, along with three engineering mills, have been allowed to resume their operations to fulfil their export order targets, as these exports play a key role in Pakistan’s economy by adding significant contributions to country’s foreign exchange reserves, with thousands of daily wages employees at their payroll.
Additionally, Commissioner Karachi has also issued a notification, allowing hotels, restaurants and tandoors to resume their services. However, the eateries’ operational timings have been limited between 8 am to 5 pm.
Only takeaway, home delivery and drive-through services will be permitted while dinning will not be allowed.
“Face masks are mandatory for all people who come out of the houses for a valid reason or are exempted during the lockdown, the mask shall cover the nose, mouth and chin. Sanitizing and cleaning hands after every activity and wherein necessary shall he strictly ensured,” said Commissioner Karachi.
Sindh government has imposed a province-wide lockdown as the province’s COVID-19 cases have reached 2,335 with 48 deaths. The easing of lockdown measures comes as earlier, federal government decided to provide concessions to various industries to resume their operations amid coronavirus lockdown.
