K-Electric, on Tuesday, has announced that due to technical fault at its Bin Qasim power plant, various areas of the metropolitan city might be subjected to extended power outages.
According to K-Electric – Karachi’s sole electricity distribution company, the city faces an electricity short fall of 130 megawatts due to a technical fault at its Bin Qasim power plant.
K-Electric’s spokesperson has stated that the electricity shortage will be compensated by power outages in industrial sectors to provide relief to the residential areas of the metropolis.
Meanwhile, the load management’s advance notices and schedule is available on the company’s website, said the spokesperson.

In addition to it, the power company is said to have been cooperating with power ministry regarding the supply of furnace oil and has reassured that the temporary electricity shortfall will be tackled once the technical issue is resolved.
It is pertinent to know that, Federal Minister for Planning, Development Asad Umar on July 11 had claimed that SSGC and PSO have ensured the provision of additional gas and furnace oil supply to KE respectively and that unscheduled load shedding in Karachi will soon end.
