Provincial Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra presented the Rs 1.118 trillion FY2021-22 budget for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday (today).
Speaking on the floor of KP Assembly, Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra announced that government employees’ salaries have been increased by 25% in the provincial budget for FY2021-22.
The finance minister also noted that the budget proposes Rs Rs747 billion for provincial expenditure.

Furthermore, Taimur Khan Jhagra apprised that budget incorporates ‘historic tax relief’ for the people as more than 700,000 farmers will benefit from ‘zero land tax’, whereas registration fee for vehicles up to Rs 2,500 cc has been fixed at Rs 1 with no re-registration fee at all.
The Rs 371 billion development budget is constitutes to 33% of the total provincial budget, making KP’s development grant highest as compared to other provinces, said the financial minister.
Ad-hoc relief allowance for all employees has been increased by 10%, functional and sectoral allowance – 20% and housing allowance for employees has been increased by 7% for those without government accommodation.
