Law enforcement agencies (LEAs), on Saturday, apprehended a suspected Daesh operative from Karachi.
According to details, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested a suspected Daesh terrorist in a raid conducted in cooperation Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The suspected terrorist, Sikandar Khan, has been affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and been previously arrested back in 2013 on terrorism charges, said SSP SIU Irfan Bahadar.
Following his arrest in 2013, Khan was shifted to Mardan jail and joined Daesh in 2019 soon after his release.
SIU officer also revealed that the suspect has already confessed to various extortion attempts.
SSP Irfan Bahadar stated, “Accused Sikandar had sent a chit to Dr. Siraj in PIB police station jurisdiction demanding extortion money,”
Following Dr Siraj’s refusal on extortion demands, the accused had then opened fire and even hurled a hand grenade targeting his clinic as an intimidation tactic.
