Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday, formed a special commission to supervise and look after Bahria Town funds.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has set up a special commission to supervise and handle funds deposited by Bahria Town Karachi administration.
The 11-member commission will include Governor Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh, Sindh Advocate General, accountant general, attorney general, chief secretary, provincial finance secretary, senior representative from Sindh Revenue Board and auditor general each and two social workers.
The commission head will be appointed by Supreme Court itself.
The body will have the authority to review and approve or reject development projects, along with the power over allocation of funds in Sindh.
The commission has been formed on the request of attorney general as both Federal and Sindh government have stressed upon their domain, claiming Bahria Town Karachi Funds.
It is pertinent to know that Bahria Town Karachi deposited Rs 57 billion of the Rs 460 billion. The penalty has been imposed by Supreme Court on Bahria Town Karachi administration for illegally acquiring 16,896 acres of land along Karachi-Hyderabad Super Highway.
