The Supreme Court of Pakistan, without naming Pakistan’s largest newspaper, criticized the news published in it.
According to local media reports, Justice Omar Ata Bandial remarked that the news of the Supreme Court regarding NAB was misreported yesterday.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial said that he had called the repeated remand of 90 days against an accused as cruelty, but the leading Urdu daily took a lead that I called only 90 days’ remand as cruelty, all media outlets must run this news again clearly.
Meanwhile, Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar said that false news was spread about me too, remand in criminal cases cannot be more than 14 days, I also mentioned the decision of Justice Munir, remand for 40 days. I did not remark about 40 days’ remand.
Pertinent to mention that a case was heard in the Supreme Court yesterday regarding filing of more than one reference against the NAB accused.
During the hearing, Justice Umar Ata Bandial had remarked that in each reference, Multiple time 90-day remand against one accused is oppression.
