Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Accountability Shahzad Akbar, has stated that the sugar inquiry commission will likely submit its final report by next week.
Speaking at a talk show, Shahzad Akbar refuted the news circulating that the sugar inquiry commission has asked for more time and said that he positively expects the inquiry commission will submit its investigative report by next week.
“Punjab chief minister and Asad Umar had appeared before the sugar inquiry commission after being summoned. On the other hand, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah is not appearing for being questioned. The federal government has presented itself for accountability,” he noted.
Furthermore, SAPM Shahzad Akbar also cited that there is sufficient evidence of financial irregularities and fraud against Shehbaz Sharif – President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and that he along with his family have been using bank accounts in the name of their employees to launder illegal money.
He also accused the Sharif family of stealing funds allocated for internally displaced persons (IDPs). Citing Hamza Shehbaz’s increase in assets by 1,100 per cent in the last 10 years, Shahzad Akbar urged NAB to put Shehbaz Sharif on Exit Control List (ECL) to stop him from going abroad amid corruption cases.
