The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Tuesday, ordered the submission of inquiry report of Army Public School (APS) attack to Attorney General (AG) of Pakistan.
The two-member bench of SC headed by Chief Justice Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the APS attack case that saw 149 pupils and school staff being martyred by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
During the hearing the top court the APS attack inquiry report to be submitted to AG who then must seek directions from the federal government and apprise the court regarding the case.
The hearing was also attended by the parents of the martyred children who urged the court to ensure justice for their children.
“What happened to you was very wrong,” said CJP Gulzar Ahmed.
The parents expressed their concerns regarding their children’s safety in Pakistan to which CJP Gulzar Ahmed reassured them and that the court will thoroughly inspect and analyze the inquiry report and its verdict will reflect it.
“We formed the commission and we will take it to its logical end,” remarked Justice Gulzar Ahmed.
The development comes as earlier a judicial commission report on 2014 APS attack was submitted in SC on July 9th after Peshawar High Court (PHC) had formed a single-member commission under Justice Mohammad Ibrahim Khan on Oct 12, 2018 on the directions of Supreme Court.
The 3,000-page report included recorded statements of 101 witnesses, 31 police officers along with various other senior officials from military and several other law enforcement agencies.
