Punjab Education Minister – Muraad Raas, has clarified that students will not be promoted without examinations this year.
Addressing a press-conference in Lahore on Tuesday (today), Punjab Education Minister Muraad Raas apprised that examinations will be conducted across all educational institutions in the province.
Students will not be promoted without examinations, he said.
Provincial minister highlighted that examinations will be held in May this year.
Schools will operate at 50 % capacity and will be obligated to ensure strict implementation of COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines.
The development comes as last year, students were promoted without examinations in wake of schools’ closure due to COVID-19 pandemic and relevant lockdown restrictions.
Schools were directed to close for a period of six months during the first COVID-19 wave in 2020 last year, which was followed by another closure for approximately two months in light of the prevailing second coronavirus wave in the country.
