Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Thursday highlighted the key role of establishing a strong academia-industry partnership to ensure a stable and vibrant national economy.
Addressing Pakistan’s 4th Artificial Intelligence Summit-2023 here in Islamabad, he said that strong academia-industry partnership is vital for future of the national economy, that required collective efforts by all stakeholders.
The engine of growth is private sector and it has to lead the initiative. The government’s job is to provide the necessary support.
He voiced hope that the private sector would take Pakistan to an export-led economy and that the corporate sector would also play its due role in earning dollars for the country.
Ahsan Iqbal assures full support
He assured the participants that the government would extend all possible support in providing a knowledge foundation and competitive infrastructure.
The minister regretted that some elements were creating disappointment in the country for their petty political benefits.
He said there was no doubt that the country was facing challenges on multiple fronts, but it needed stability and continuity in economic policies to tackle these issues.
Iqbal said that no nation in the world achieved progress unless it began developing a ‘self-esteemed image’.
He said that Pakistan was facing issues because it had not been allowed to function with stability and continuity during the last 75 years.
