South Africa’s cricketer Shabnim Ismail, who is the only Muslim woman to have played international cricket for her country, has created history by bowling the fastest ball.
Shabnim became the first female bowler to have achieved this feat as she bowled 130 kilometres per hour (kmph).
She made the record during a match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League match. The second season of the league is being played in India’s Bengaluru and Delhi.
The South African player is representing Mumbai Indians. Shabnam bowled the second ball of the third over at a speed of 132.1 kmph at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi.
She bowled against Australian captain Meg Lanning which hit her pads.
This is not the first time Shabnim has achieved this feat as she held this record earlier as well. She had bowled at 128 kmph against West Indies in 2016.
Moreover, she also bowled at a speed of 127 kmph twice during the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Women’s World Cup.
