Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Ameer Bhatti has approved the imposition of ‘social media ban’ for Punjab’s judiciary.
As per details, Punjab judges will be barred from WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media applications/platforms.
The social media ban is specifically aimed at preventing communication, propagation of court-related information.
LHC Registrar Office has issued directives to judges immediately leave the non-governmental WhatsApp groups.
LHC has also directed the judicial officers to restrict their social life and avoid using social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and others.
The use of social media for communication of legal issues is against the prestige of the judges and departmental action would be taken against those judges who were found violating the orders, the notification read.
Such messages are spread and displayed in print and electronic media without any proof of the credibility of said messages and no judicial officer should be doing so through any of the social media means, especially with reference to the judiciary.
Furthermore, use of blue protocol lights and green number plates have been banned too and strict action will be taken against those found guilty of violating new directives, guidelines.
