Ismail Rahoo – Sindh Agriculture Minister on Tuesday, announced that Sindh government will be introducing loan and tax waiver initiatives for farmers affected by recent rain spell across the province.
According to Ismail Rahoo, heavy rains have severely affected crops in various districts of Sindh including Badin, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tando Allahyar and others.
He noted that farmers have already been suffering due to inflation and other economic repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic and heavy monsoon rains have only added to their woes.
Sindh government is busy in carrying out relief operations across the rain-hit areas, which will be followed be comprehensive damage assessment and compensation measures by the provincial government, he said.

The relief measures will include interest free or low interest loans, and tax-waivers for farmers affected by rains, he added.
The development comes as earlier, 20 districts of Sindh, including all six in Karachi division were declared and given ‘calamity-hit’ status due to unprecedented torrential rains.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted that crops such as cotton, tomatoes, chilies, rice, sugarcane and others have suffered extensively due to flooding.
