Sindh Tajir Ittehad on Thursday, reiterated their intention to open businesses across the province and have warned of protests in case of any government action against traders.
Traders’ union has claimed that Sindh government is non-serious towards the woes of traders and businessmen who have been severely affected by COVID-19 lockdown directives.
They have threatened of mass voluntary arrests in case of government action against them, as President All City Tajir Ittehad – Hammad Poonawala, was taken under arrest by local police over allegations of defying coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Following the arrests, Governor Sindh, Imran Imsail instructed Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh Mushtaq Mehar to release the arrested traders.
Sindh government has maintained the position that their priority is the safety of the people of Sindh, and if needed, they will resort to much stricter lockdown directives and further suspension of businesses to ensure public safety amid COVID-19 outbreak.
Expressing his views on the situation, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani, has stated that markets will be reopened once the Sindh government gets the green light from the federal government, which will take three to four more days.
