Sindh government has announced to ban indoor dining, close schools as part of re-imposition of COVID-19 restrictions across province amid increasing cases.
As per details, CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday (today), chaired a meeting of the Provincial Coronavirus Taskforce to review significant surge in COVID-19 cases in the province.
During the meeting, the forum decided to ban indoor dining amusement parks, water parks, tourists’ spots, cinemas, gyms and indoor games from Friday.
Meanwhile, schools will also be closed for classed till grade 8 under new COVID-19 restriction. For class 9 and above only exam related activities will be allowed, with normal classes being suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The meeting was informed that COVID-19 positivity rate in Sindh has reached 7.4%. To this, CM Shah said over 5% rate is a matter of concern for the government.
365 COVID-19 cases of different variants were reported in Sindh by July 12th which included 92 cases of UK variant, 162 cases of South Africa variant, 29 – Brazilian variant, 66 – Indian variant, P1 (501Y.V.3) – 3 and one old type.
Sindh has surpassed Punjab in number of confirmed cases of coronavirus as total number of fatalities from the virus in the province stand at 5,621.
