Saeed Ghani, Sindh Education Minister, on Wednesday, opposed the reopening of educational institutions from 1st June in the province due to the current situation of coronavirus outbreak.
As per the details, Saeed Ghani announced that the Sindh government will hold a meeting of of the steering committee for education within coming week, which will decide on the matter regarding the reopening of educational institutions in the province.
“We will convene a meeting and then make an announcement whether opening schools from June 1st is possible or not,” he said.
But it’s my guess that perhaps it won’t be possible for us to open schools from June 1st because of the situation before us,” he added.
It is to be noted that Sindh was the first province in the country to close educational institutions back in February. On March 12, the provincial government announced its decision that all educational institutions are to be remain closed till May 30.
Sindh educational boards have failed to formulate a strategy pertaining to matric and intermediate examinations which were expected to be attended by around a million students.
Sindh has the reported the second highest COVID-19 count in the country, with 8,640 confirmed cases with 157 casualties so far.
