Sindh government has imposed a complete three-hour lockdown across the province on Friday to curb the virus spread.
According to the Sindh Home Department, a complete lockdown is to be observed across the province from 12 pm to 3 pm with the intention of limiting Friday congregational prayers in the province.
Main roads of Karachi, including Shahra-e-Faisal, Baloch Pull, University Road, I.I Chundrigar Road, M.A Jinnah Road and others have been cordoned off by the police.
Earlier, Sindh Information and Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, while speaking to a private news channel, had stated that the Sindh government has reservations regarding the lifting of lockdown but they will abide by the federal government’s decision for the sake of national interest and unity.
It is to be noted, that Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Thursday had announced the lifting of COVID-19 lockdown in the country from May 9. Businesses, industries and markets will be allowed to resume their operations five days a week on conditions of strictly adhering to SOPs and guidelines issued by the government.
