Health Minister Sindh Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho has vehemently opposed reopening of schools across the province with emphasis on primary schools.
Pechuho that the decision is being made in haste as coronavirus has not yet been defeated and its numbers have seen an incline in Sindh.
The minister also said that another wave of coronavirus is expected and the decision should be stalled for atleast another six weeks while the evolving situation of the virus’s impact should closely be monitored in the country.
“The rate of coronavirus infections in the country has increased from 1.5 percent to 3 percent, which means that the cases have doubled and is certainly not a positive sign,” added Pechuho.
Sindh government has already decided to postpone the second phase of reopening schools for Class 6 to 8 (Secondary Section) from September 21.
