Karachi: Sindh Government, on Thursday, announced to extend the province-wide lockdown to April 14.
“After careful considerations of the situation and the spread of disease and further deliberations in National Coordination Committee the government is satisfied that such restrictive measures adopted are necessary to continue for some time to contain the spread of disease and break the chain of spread of virus,” read the notification issued by Home Department.
The notification further stated that a complete ban on all activities has been imposed from Friday 12:00pm to 03:30pm which may resume from 3:30pm to 6:30pm (Friday only).
The decision is the continuation of previous directions that shopping malls, cinemas, wedding halls, showrooms, banquets, hotels etc will remain closed throughout the province. Shrines and other holy sites will also remain closed while inter and intra-city public transport will remain suspended.
Goods transport, hospitals, factories producing food items and medical equipment remain exempted from the lockdown restrictions.
Moreover, ban on congregational prayers has also been extended along with the condition that funeral prayers will be allowed on the condition that the local SHO is informed beforehand.
