Karachi: Sindh government has directed that fuel stations be closed by 5pm, as authorities gear up to implement vigorous lockdown measures in the province.
According to the notification issued by Home Department, gas stations will be allowed to operate from 8 am to 5 pm, however, puncture shops will be allowed to operate till 8 pm.
Fuel stations on the highway have been exempted from the time restrictions and will remain open.
This decision comes as the authorities intensify the province-wide lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus which has infected 508 people in the province so far.
Earlier, in a bit to obtain better results from the ongoing province-wide lockdown to deal with novel coronavirus, Sindh government had restricted fuel stations to operate between 8 am to 8pm.
Pakistan has reported a total of 1,664 confirmed coronavirus cases with 21 deaths, while 28 patients who have recovered from the novel virus. A country-wide lockdown has been imposed with the exception for production and supply for food and health care items.
