Karachi: Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Provincial Minister for Local Government, has announced that the grocery stores and other shops for essential commodities in the province will remain closed from 8pm and 8am, as government plans on enforcing strict lockdown.
Sindh government has decided to ensure an ‘effective lockdown’ in order to contain the spread of coronavirus. However, medical stores and hospitals will be exempted.
The decision comes in the wake of government’s discontentment over the noncooperation by public in abiding by the lockdown restrictions imposed by authorities.
Earlier, Nasir Hussain Shah had stated that if the public continues to violate the lockdown instructions, the government may be compelled to impose ‘curfew’ as the last resort to ensure public safety amidst the pandemic.
