Federal Human Rights Minister – Shireen Mazari has refuted rumors regarding possible tabling of law for public hanging of rapists in Pakistan.
Expressing her views during an informal conversation with reporters, Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari categorically denied false rumors regarding any possible law for public hanging of rapists in the country.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has maintained that law for public hanging of rapists is cannot be introduced, implemented due to international agreements and conventions, said the minister.
The government is making due efforts to ensure that the victims’ families won’t be able to withdraw from the cases or make any ‘compromises’ that often result in the acquittal of the accused individuals.
It is to be noted that Motorway rape incident has resulted in intense public outcry after a woman was raped near Gujjar Pura interchange on Lahore-Sialkot Motorway earlier this month.
Citizens have been demanding strict punishment for individuals behind such heinous crimes in-order to discourage and deter such incidents from happening in future.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, during an interview had suggested ‘chemical castration’ punishment for rapists.
