Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed held a detailed press briefing in Islamabad on Monday (today) over various issued including illegal foreigners, Noor Mukadam case and CNIC verification.
Speaking to media, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed announced August 14 deadline to leave Pakistan for foreigners who are living in Pakistan illegally.
There are thousands of foreigners who are living in Pakistan over the last many years without renewal of visa, said the minister.
Addressing the issue of border fencing, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed apprised that fencing along Pak-Afghan border will be completed by 14th August whilst 46-48% percent fencing on the border with Iran has already been completed.
Lamenting on Noor Mukadam murder case, the Interior Minister announced that the murder suspect Zahir Jaffer has been added to the Provincial National Identification List (PNIL).
The suspect’s name will also be added to Exit Control List (ECL), reassured Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
The names of the accused in the Noor Mukadam case will be presented in Cabinet this week for inclusion in the ECL, he noted.
Furthermore, Federal Interior Minister also revealed that government aims to introduce new policy for verification and correction of National Identity Card (NIC).
Chairman NADRA has been directed to formulate new NIC policy within 14 days.
Action has been taken against 39 NADRA officials in Karachi for their involvement in issuance of fake identity cards, he added.
