Islamabad: Shehryar Afridi, on Friday, was reinstated as the Minister of State for Narcotics Control by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
On April 8, Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken back the same portfolio from the Shehryar Afridi and had appointed Azam Sawati to the post of Minister of State for Narcotics Control, after the FIA report on sugar and wheat crisis surfaced which triggered major reshuffle in federal cabinet as Food Security Minister Khusro Bakhtiar had also resigned from his post but was appointed as the minister for economic affairs, replacing Hammad Azhar. While Hammad Azhar was reassigned to the portfolio of Industries.
The FIA report highlighted the fact that companies belonging to Moonis Elahi and Jahangir Khan Tareen benefited from the subsidies provided by government and earlier profited from sugar crisis and wheat crisis in the country
