President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and opposition leader, Shehbaz Sharif, has filed a lawsuit against Daily Mail – a British newspaper, in London High Court.
According to details, Shehbaz Sharif has sued Daily Mail in London High Court, accusing the newspaper of defamation, and that the newspaper’s false and inaccurate stories against him had seriously damaged his reputation.
As per the court documents, Mr Sharif has already submitted £10,528 in court fee.
However, it is not known as to how much compensation he is seeking in legal damages on defamation charges.
Prior to this, Shehbaz Sharif has already issued legal notices to British journalist David Rose and Daily Mail, accusing them of failing to abide the basic principles of journalism, as they did not contact him for his comments on the issue before the publication of the story.
It is to be noted that in July 2019 journalist David Rose’s story in Daily Mail had accused Shehbaz Sharif and his family of corruption in Department for International Development (DFID) aid for 2005 earthquake victims worth up to £500 million.
