Sindh High Court (SHC), has directed Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) to submit salary, allowance records of National Assembly (NA) members.
The two-member bench of SHC headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar heard the petition filed against the increase in salaries, allowances, privileges of members of the lower house of the parliament.
During the hearing, the court directed AGP to submit a detailed report on salary, allowance, perks and privileges enjoyed by NA members.
The petition filed by Syed Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi argues that the increment in salaries, allowances, perks and privileges of MNAs is in fact a burden on the country’s dire economic circumstances and hence must be revoked.
MNAs are entitled to 25 business class air tickets per year, meanwhile their family members can also utilize the service, the petition highlighted.
Upon hearing the arguments, the court adjourned the case till September 16th directing AGP to submit a detailed reply on the next hearing.
