Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Quereshi, on Tuesday, discussed joint efforts on coronavirus outbreak with his British counterpart – Dominic Raab, via telephonic conversation.
FM Qureshi congratulated his British counterpart on the successful recovery of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson from novel coronavirus, who was discharged from the hospital two days earlier.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi offered his condolences to Mr. Raab over more than 10,000 COVID-19 deaths in the United Kingdom. He lauded UK’s National Health Service (NHS) for their professionalism and selfless role in combating the virus outbreak in the country.
Dominic Raab appreciated Pakistan’s effort to repatriate more than 7,500 Britons via 23 special flights operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) amid coronavirus flight ban.
Qureshi reiterated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s appeal related to debt relief for developing countries and requested his British counterpart to further discuss and support this proposal in the upcoming G20 meeting.
Britain has reported a total of 94,845 confirmed coronavirus cases with the death toll reaching 12,129. While 6,160 people have been infected with the novel virus in Pakistan, whereas 113 casualties have been reported so far.
