Federal Education Minister – Shafqat Mahmood has defended government’s decision to hold board examinations while slamming PML-N leaders for resorting to petty politics over exams issue.
Shafqat Mahmood took to social media to defend government’s decision to hold matric and intermediate board examinations.
The federal minister noted that students opposing board examinations can always appear in supplementary exams taken two to three months by all boards.
Shafqat Mahmood stressed that there is no reason to postpone examinations and penalize students who have been studying.
Slamming criticism raised by PML-N leaders namely Saad Rafique and Ahsan Iqbal over exams issue, Shafqat Mahmood said that that decision to take exams was taken unanimously by all federating units including PML-N’s government in AJK, and PPP in Sindh.
They know that students cannot be promoted on the basis of previous exams as there were no exams last year, said the Education Minister.
Taking a jibe at PML-N leaders, Shafqat Mahmood said that f they claim to be educated that exams are the best measure of students ability and class 12 important as they have to go to universities and professional colleges.
The development comes as PML-N leaders Saad Rafique and Ahsan Iqbal had criticized government’s decision to hold matric and intermediate board exams amid COVID-19 pandemic.
It is pertinent to know that matric board exams are already underway in Sindh from July 5th which will be followed by intermediate exams.
Meanwhile, in rest of the country exams for grade 10th and 12th students will start from July 10th followed by class 9th and 11th examinations after the culmination of the prior.
Its worth mentioning that this year board exams are being held for elective subjects only. students of 9th and 10th grade will only appear in exams for four subjects namely biology, computer science, physics, chemistry and maths.
