Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO), on Friday, summoned a senior Indian diplomat to protest against the ceasefire violations (CFVs) by Indian forces along Line of Control (LoC).
According to details, the Indian diplomat was informed about the damage and injuries to the civilian population in Nezapir and Rakhchikri Sectors due to cross-border shelling by Indian troops.
Six civilians including Faiza – 14 years old, Seerat – 10 years old, Aaiza – 7 years old along with their mother Sona Bibi, residents of Degwar Naran village suffered serious injuries due to Indian CFVs on Thursday. Furthermore, resident of Mandhar village Abdul Majeed – 44, and Muhammad Yasir – 22, a resident of Kirni village were also among the injured.
According to FO spokesperson Ayesha Farooqui, India has committed 989 ceasefire violations in the year 2020 so far.
“By raising tensions along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB), India cannot divert attention from the grave human rights situation in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K). Indian side was called upon to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding; investigate this and other such incidents of deliberate ceasefire violations and maintain peace along the LoC and the WB. The Indian side was also urged to allow the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions,” read the statement issued by Foreign Office on Friday.
