Senator Shibli Faraz, took oath as Federal Minister for information at President House in Islamabad today.
The ceremony was chaired by President of Pakistan Arif Alvi, who administered the oath to Senator Shibli Faraz. Senator Shibli Faraz is also serving as the Leader of the House in the Senate.
Syed Shibli Faraz is the son of prominent Urdu poet Ahmad Faraz and nephew of former speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Barrister Masood Kausar. He has been elected on a general seat of the Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on PTI ticket. He had also served as a pilot in Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and is a banker by profession.
In addition to it, Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has been appointed as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting, replacing Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan. Asim Bajwa has held the post of Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in the past, and was currently serving as Chairperson CPEC Authority.
Expressing her views on being relieved of her duties, outgoing SAPM Dr Firdous Ashiw Awan said, I’m thankful to the prime minister for trusting me. The prime minister has the right to decide which player of the team should play on what batting order or which field position.”
“I respect the prime minister’s decision,” she added.
Fawad Chaudhry – Federal Minister for Science and Technology, has congratulated both the newly appointed individuals on social media. It is pertinent to remember that the designation assumed by Shibli Faraz as minister for information was previously held by Fawad Chaudhry and was vacant since April 2019.
