Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Hunaid Lakhani has emerged as one of the favorites to win party ticket for the upcoming Senate elections next month.
Renowned entrepreneur, social worker and educationist – Hunaid Lakhani has emerged as one of the strongest contenders within PTI to win the party nomination for the March 3 Senate elections.
PTI had earlier nominated Faisal Vawda on ‘general seat’ and Saifullah Abro on ‘technocrat seat’ for the upcoming Senate elections from Sindh.
However, in wake of reservations, concerns raised by party’s local leadership against these nominations, PM Imran Khan has called a meeting to revise the nominations and party tickets regarding Senate elections.
Sources say that Hunaid Lakhani is one of the favorites among party leadership and is a strong candidate to win the party nomination for Senate elections.
Earlier disgruntled PTI leaders, officials from Sindh met with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and voiced their concerns regarding allocation of party tickets for Senate elections.
Party officials have argued that Saifullah Abro has close links with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Meanwhile, PTI Karachi leaders have also voiced their concerns against the nomination of Faisal Vawda for Senate elections.
PTI Karachi has in fact backed Hunaid Lakhani, Ashraf Qureshi, Molvi Mehmood and others as deserving candidates for Senate elections.
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Federal Minister Asad Umar have been tasked with addressing the issue regarding party nomination and tickets for Senate elections.
