Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani had reiterated that schools in the provinces will remain open in the province.
In a statement, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has clarified that schools will remain in the province that students will be allowed to attend physical classes once in a week amid tightening of lockdown restrictions due to increasing COVID-19 cases.
Saeed Ghani revealed that Sindh has opposed the idea of closing down educational institutions during the meeting of National Coordination and Operations Center (NCOC).
The provincial minister contended that schools with 73 percent enrollment should be closed and that students of grade six and above should be allowed to attend their classes as per usual.
The development comes as earlier, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood announced the closing down of educational institutions from November 26th due to continuous surge in coronavirus cases.
The decision was made during the ongoing Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) convened to discuss school closures.
Mahmood said that the situation will be reviews in the first week of January 2021 followed by the reopening of educational institutions from January 11th depending on the COVID-19 situation in the country.
The educational institutions will remain closed till December 26th followed by winter vacations in schools till January 10th.
The final decision in this regard will be made by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday (tomorrow).
