Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has turned down Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Masood ur Rehman’s apology in contempt of court case on Friday (today).
SC three-judge bench headed by Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the contempt of court case against PPP’s Masood ur Rehman who had used ‘objectionable language’ for CJP Gulzar Ahmed.
During the hearing, the top court directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate on whose directives the PPP leader made such remarks.
Such a speech was not possible without careful consideration, the court noted.
Justice Aijazul Ahsan reminded the accused that he boasted of telling the court its worth if it summoned him.
To which Masood ur Rehman apologized to the court for his remarks against CJP and argued that he was disturbed by the demise of his mother and domestic problems.
I am a poor person and apologize to the court…I am the sole provider of my two wives and seven children, said the accused.
Meanwhile, FIA officials apprised the court hey were investigating Masood ur Rehman and assured that they won’t give any concession to whoever is found backing him.
Justice Aijazul Ahsan inquired the accused on what bases did he termed Chief Justice as ‘sector in-charge’? To which the accused apologized once again.
This way anyone would disrespect a judge and apologize later, remarked the judge.
The apex court rejected PPP leader’s apology and announced to indict Masood ur Rehman in contempt of court case.
The court approved Masood ur Rehman’s physical remand till July 4th and adjourned the case for indefinite period.
