Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health – Dr Faisal Sultan has hinted on utilizing Pakistan Army’s services for strict implementation for COVID-19 SOPs. The SAPM has also warned against the dangerous COVID-19 ‘Delta Variant’.
SAPM Dr Faisal has termed recent spike in Pakistan’s COVID-19 cases as a result of public’s negligence and failure to adhere to COVID-19 SOPs.
Speaking to media in Islamabad, Dr Faisal Sultan said that government may very well call Pakistan Army to ensure strict implantation of COVID-19 SOPs.
The SAPM also warned against the Delta variant of COVID-19 apprising that it has effected Pakistan’s COVID-19 trajectory causing significant increase in country’s coronavirus positivity rate.
Expressing his views on COVID-19 restrictions, Dr Faisal Sultan noted that further controls and restrictions are needed on mobility as big cities have been instructed to use smart lockdowns again.
He also apprised that strict restrictions will be imposed on Eid-ul-Azha.

According to NCOC statistics; 47,015 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours of which 1,808 came back positive taking country’s positivity rate to 3.84%.
A total of 15 COVID-19 related deaths were reported during this time period.
Pakistan’s total COVID-19 tally stands at 975,092 cases with 22,597 deaths so far. A total of 913,873 people have successfully recovered from the novel virus, whereas 2,162 are still in critical condition.
