While addressing a joint news presser with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said both sides have agreed to execute more military exercises and drills.
Russia’s FM showed contentment over the strengthening in the volume of bilateral trade and focused on saying that there is a need to further alter it.
The Russian FM said about opportunities in the energy sector, that both countries are now negotiating about a new pact on Stream Gas Pipeline project and the construction work on the project will start as soon as it is signed. He coned the relationship between Pakistan and Russia reciprocally fruitful and beneficial. “We have provided 50,000 doses of anti Covid vaccine to Pakistan and intend to provide 150,000 more,” he told..
Talking about the worsened security situation in Afghanistan, he said Pakistan and Russia have agreed to further provide the parties to reach a protocol to end to the conflict by an inclusive political negotiation.
Foreign Minster said Pakistan is interested in building a strong multifaceted relationship with Russia. “There is a new approach and mindset in Pakistan for relationship with Russia. We feel that not just we have geographic proximity but Russia is a factor of stability in the region and the world at large,” he said.
He further said Pakistan wants to build a relationship of trust with Russia. Moscow has always endorsed supremacy of international law and multilateral-ism.
“Our coordination and cooperation at the United Nations level has been excellent,”Shah Mehmood Qureshi said and confirmed the commitment to strengthen ties with Russia and create mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Pakistan.
