ISLAMABAD: The federal government has prepared budget draft worth Rs7,570 billion, out of which, Rs1,000 billion is expected to be allocated for the country’s ongoing fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Special relief is also expected to be provided to the business community that has suffered blow in the wake of the virus, according to the sources.
In the budget, salaries and pensions of government employees are likely to be hiked by 20 percent. In addition, two ad hoc reliefs are expected to be integrated in the salaries.
The budget draft will be finalized in the first ten days of June and will be sent to federal cabinet for approval.
The budget will be presented in the parliament on June 12.
The next meeting of federal cabinet is expected to be held on June 2 to discuss budget proposals.
The Prime Minister Imran Khan will continue to hold regular budget briefings before June 12.
