Senator Faisal Javed Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that Rs 1.49 billion have been deposited in Prime Minister’s Covid Relief Fund in the first 15 days.
Senator Faisal Javed took to social media to announce the overwhelming response of Pakistanis on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s call for donations in Covid Relief Fund.
“Hats off to Generosity & zeal of Pakistanis for contributing towards this great cause,” he tweeted.
Prominent figures, various institutions and overseas Pakistanis have actively contributed to the national cause aimed at helping poor families struggling due to coronavirus crisis and the resulting lockdown.
Faisal Edhi – the head of Edhi Foundation, on Wednesday, donated Rs 10 million in PM’s Covid Relief fund. While All Pakistan Textile Manufacturing Association (APTMA) announced a donation of Rs 50 million to the relief fund.
Additionally, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officers/officials had also announced to donate Rs4.6 million to Covid Relief Fund.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had urged overseas Pakistanis to help their brethren in need by contributing in the relief fund. According to Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, over 900 overseas Pakistanis have deposited Rs 45 million in Covid Relief Fund via ministry’s web portal.
On April 1, Prime Minister’s COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Fund-2020 was established on the directions of Imran Khan, to provide financial assistance to deserving families who have been struggling due to economic crisis amid COVID-19 outbreak.
