Returning Officer (RO) has admitted to ‘irregularities’ in Daska NA-75 by-elections in a report submitted to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
As per details, Chief Elections Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja headed the five-member bench meeting regarding NA-75 by-elections and reviewed the report submitted by the concerned RO.
Athar Abbas – RO for NA-75 by-polls, submitted his report to the ECP stating that presiding officers (POs) were involved in the ‘irregularities’ during the voting process.
The presiding officers were ‘puzzled and terrified’ during the investigation, said the report.
Furthermore, contesting candidates namely PML-N’s Nosheen Iftikhar and PTI’s Ali Asjad also appeared before the ECP for the hearing pertaining to NA-75 by-elections
It is to be noted that ECP has withheld the results of NA-75 by-elections after severe allegations of rigging and irregularities by both PTI and PML-N.
The by-polls were also marred by violence as two people were killed and eight others were wounded as PTI and PLML-N workers clash on the voting day.
The deceased were identified as Majid belonging from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Zeeshan, a Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) worker.
