Renowned journalist and former Karachi Press Club President, Saleem Asmi passed away in Karachi on Saturday (today).
Saleem Asmi – a veteran journalist, who had served as Editor for Dawn newspaper and was the former President of Karachi Press Club, passed away in Karachi on Saturday, as confirmed by family sources.
He has also served as the news editor for Khaleej Times.
As per family sources, Saleem Asmi was suffering from serious ailments for several days, and passed away on Saturday (today).
Arman Sabir – Secretary KPC, has said that final announcement regarding Saleem Asmi’s funeral prayers will be made once his two sons have returned from abroad.
Several senior journalists, and politicians took to social media to offer condolences over the demise of Mr Saleem Asmi.
PTI leader Senator Shibli Faraz said that Saleem Asmi will always be remembered for his efforts for journalists.
Beena Sarwar called Saleem Asmi a ‘quiet warrior’ who had a gentle exterior along with a will of steel.
Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) also expressed grief over the passing of Saleem Asmi calling him ‘ an artist and connoisseur of classical music.’
