The tragic incident of aircraft crash in Karachi has left the nation in mourning just a few hours from Eid-ul-Fitr.
The unfortunate flight PK-8303 carrying over a 100 passengers and crew members failed to land safely at the Karachi airport an instead crashed into the nearby residential locality of Malir district just few second away from the runway.
Just as social media and news channels started uncovering the situation, it was learnt that near and dear ones of many had boarded the fateful flight.
The tragedy becomes multifold as the PIA Airbus 320 aircraft fell over a densely populated neighborhood with multi-storey houses constructed a few feet from each other.
The incident has reminded people of Pakistan of some similar tragic incidents in the aviation history of Pakistan occurring in the past decade that took a piece of us with them.
The most recent one being the 2016 crash of Pakistan International Airlines PK-661 carrying 48 passengers from Chitral to Islamabad.
The ATR-42 aircraft departed from Chitral bound for Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport, but crashed after an hour of taking off in Havelian near Abbottabad after a distress call was sent to the control tower.
Pakistan’s pop icon Junaid Jamshed was on board this flight. The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed there are no survivors from the ill-fated flight.
The nation could never get over this accident.
The other one was Airblue Airbus 321 flying from Karachi to Islamabad on July 28, 2010. The poor plane crashed into the Margala Hills outside Islamabad while preparing to land. The accident claimed all 152 lives on board.
On April 20, 2012, another, Bhoja Air Airbus 737 that took off from Karachi came down in bad weather near Islamabad, killing 121 passengers and 6 crew members.
The nation is hoping for the success of rescue efforts and early recovery of survivors.
