The federal government has appointed Rashid Mahmood Langrial, from the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), as the new chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, the BPS-21 officer “is transferred and posted as Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, with immediate effect.”
Earlier, sources told ARY News that the name of Rashid Langrial, a BPS-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), had been proposed to the prime minister for the top slot of tax collecting body.
Rashid Langrial was previously serving as the Secretary of the Power Division. The federal cabinet gave the final approval for the appointment of the new FBR chairman.
The officer has served in different government positions such as: Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan, Commissioner Lahore Division, Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Chief Executive Officer of National Power Parks Management Company (NPPMCL), Chairperson Lahore Ring Road Authority and Secretary Tourism Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
