Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet on April 13th Tuesday (tomorrow) for Ramazan moon sighting.
The central Ruet-e-Hilal committee’s meeting will be held in Peshawar, and will primarily focus on creating a consensus regarding Ramazan 2021 moon sighting.
The meeting is also expected to be attended by Mufti Sahabuddin Popalzai – a local cleric and head of Reut-e-Hilal committee head along with officials of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Maulana Abdul Khyber Azad, in a statement last week, had reiterated his commitment to ensure that the country will celebrate one Eid on the same day this year.
The development comes as Pakistan had observed Eid and Ramazan on varying days as Mufti Sahabuddin Popalzai’s Qasim Ali Khan Mosque Committee and Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee have often been found to be at odds and their disagreement over moon sightings results in multiple Eid across the country.
Around 90 % of the people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) follows Mufti Popalzai and Qasim Ali Khan mosque as it had been announcing moon sightings even before 1947, whereas the rest of Pakistan follows decisions made by central Ruet-e-Hilal committee.
It is to be noted that PMD has predicted that Ramazan moon is likely to be sighted on April 13th as the weather is expected fair or partly cloudy in most parts of the country on the particular evening.
The new moon of Ramadan, 1442 AH will born on crossing conjunction point at 07-32 PST on 12 April 2021, said PMD.
