An accountability court on Wednesday, turned downed the acquittal plea filed by Raja Pervaiz Ashraf – senior (PPP) leader and former Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the plea filed by ex-prime minister seeking acquittal in the reference filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against him in Naudero II power plant case.
The court remarked that the trial of all suspects must continue and turned downed Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s plea under NAB Ordinance, 2019.

Prior to this, another NAB court had acquitted Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in matters pertaining to Rental Power corruption case.
The development comes as NAB has accused Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and others of financial embezzlement in matters pertaining to Naudero II power plant worth up to Rs 7.5 million.
